Madagascar (March, 2010) – It was a rather nice day in Ambalavao, the fresh air and billowing clouds were a welcome relief from the previous few days of muggy weather. Despite the bustle of the zebu market, I spent a few moments of respite sitting down chatting with a small crew of farmers. Essentially seated on an old water trough; reinvented as the empty water cooler, with the official squad chatting bovine business.

India (May, 2017) – Despite the temperatures we headed back to Baboo Ghat for another tour of people watching. I meandered around, in between the makeshift altars and priests offering sanctification for those in need of blessings. It was serious devotional business; taking places just steps away from the Ganges, seemingly so removed from the monstrous cityscape beyond.

Mexico (November, 2017) – We spent a couple hours observing the overnight happenings at Santa Cruz Xoxocotlan cemetery. While enjoying brief interludes in celebrations, we attempted to avoid the throngs of tourists, zigzagging the areas less travelled.

Canada (May, 2011) – Dinosaurs are an integral part of my human experience. When asked at school what I wanted to be when I grew up, unlike most in my class, my greatest desire was to be a t-rex. I won't go into the psychology of a four year old, but in the end there was a realization of its impossibility. I can say that wandering the glass encased galleries containing bones of a species long lost, still pulls at my imagination, whether it is the majestic t-rex or something else.

India (December, 2016) – Notwithstanding the start of a new year; the current climate brings to mind those long stretches waiting in airports. As the omicron variant vigorously germinates; like a great many travel enthusiasts I'm trying to amuse myself waiting for the next adventure to start. Hopefully some time soon with an added sense of immunity. In the meantime back to reminiscing of that time, I enacted private detective in the Kolkata airport.
